Chicago magazine | January 2012
These two stories explore Bridgeport, a neighborhood in transition on Chicago’s South Side. The first introduces readers to Ed Marszewski, an artist-turned-entrepreneur and the neighborhood’s unofficial mayor. The second provides a practical guide to the area’s galleries, bars, and beyond. Together, the pair presents a multipurpose look at a community in the midst of artist-led change, an idea I had been chewing on since journalism school. I’m thrilled with the way the package turned out, and I love how Lisa Predko’s photo illustrates the story. Click the thumbnails below for a larger view of the layouts or read about Marszewski and Bridgeport on the magazine’s website.
